Adult Education and Discipleship at Pine Shores

Grow in Grace

It has been said that “Wherever living faith exists, there is a community endeavoring to know, understand, live and witness to that faith.” We place a high value on learning as a community of believers. Education is not an elective, rather, as John Calvin once said, “Faith rests not on ignorance, but on knowledge.”

At the root of the word disciple is the notion of learner. Ours is a faith that prompts questions, sets inquiry in motion and calls us to examine our assumptions about God, ourselves and the world. We value education because it leads us to learn about the world and how it functions.  We value education because it shows us our God-given talents in order to fulfill the vocation to which we have been called. Education transforms; it changes us.

2 Peter 3:18 reads: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”   We encourage you to grow in grace and knowledge.

Educational and Discipleship Opportunities at Pine Shores

Our calendar is filled with learning opportunities. Education occurs on Sunday mornings, at women’s circles and in small groups. In addition, there are season short-term studies offered throughout the year. Classes are taught by experienced and passionate instructors. Occasionally adult classes have guest speakers who discuss topics that range from interpreting scripture to local and global missions. Adult classes provide a wealth of opportunities for spiritual enrichment, biblical learning and fellowship. To learn specific dates and times for our educational opportunities please call the office, (941)922-1597.

The Christian journey is a life-encompassing pilgrimage that entails both individual study and the fellowship shared in collective worship. At Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, we offer both. Come and explore how your spiritual journey can be strengthened and your spirit renewed.

Pine Shores welcomes you to join us in your journey of faith.
