Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC) is a private, non-profit agency that provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Its mission is to protect victims and to help them regain their independence. Services are provided at no cost and include a 24-hour hotline, shelter, safety planning, counseling, case management, children’s programs, information and referral, and transitional housing.

Additionally, SPARCC offers a certified batterer’s intervention program (DVIP); community education and professional training; and volunteer training and placement in direct services, or fundraising (SPARCC Auxiliary). SPARCC also operates the Treasure Chest, a resale store that provides free clothing and furniture to their clients and generates revenues for their programs.

Pine Shores contributes to SPARCC most visibly by displaying a Christmas tree during the holiday season decorated with stockings that describe needed items for SPARCC clients. It’s a wonderful way to spread Christmas joy to those who suffer from the trauma of domestic violence.
