Session Committees:
ADULT EDUCATION
This committee gives direction to a very well rounded educational ministry for adults of all ages. The emphasis is on gaining knowledge and skills to deepen individual faith and to be of effective service to others.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY TEAM
This team focuses on the development of healthy and vibrant children from birth through 5th grade. They direct Sunday School classes, JOY Company, (Wednesday afternoon program), Children’s Church, Adventure Camps, and oversee the nursery.
CONGREGATIONAL CARE TEAM
This team is made up of active ministry of caring and includes Stephen Ministry, Butterflies and Monarchs (The Monarchs and Butterflies are groups of caring men and women of the church who are paired with members who no longer can be an active part of the church family. They visit them on a weekly and/or monthly basis and during special occasions, holidays and birthdays.) It also includes the transportation service and home visitation.
ENDOWMENT BOARD
This committee administers permanent funds provided to Pine Shores as special gifts, trusts or estates. Funds are distributed by Council, as grants for mission expenses, in accordance with the donor’s wishes. Mission support covers many activities, locally and nationally, for church professional education, youth projects and special needs of community and worldwide organizations of many types.
EVANGELISM
The Evangelism Committee coordinates activities that reach out with Christ’s message to visitors and to the neighborhood. It is responsible for the St. Andrew Visitors’ training and visitation efforts and the Ambassador’s Ministry.
FINANCE
Members of this committee monitor and guide the Council in all of its financial expenditures throughout the year, keeping the congregation apprised of the financial circumstances of the funds on a monthly basis.
MISSION/OUTREACH
Mission/Outreach directs and encourages financial support and personal involvement of the congregation in Christian mission. Projects range from hunger concerns in Sarasota to global mission.
PERSONNEL
The personnel committee directs the professional staff of the church, evaluates performance, and makes salary recommendations.
PROPERTY
The property committee manages the property of the church and its campus buildings, including determining the appropriate use of church facilities.
STEWARDSHIP
Challenging the people of God with the privilege of responsible Christian stewardship of money, time and talent is the responsibility of this committee. It develops the annual Stewardship Program and leads the congregation in its giving.
WORSHIP/MUSIC
Providing for the worship of the People of God through liturgy, proclamation, music and meaningful observances of the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism is the responsibility of this committee.
YOUTH COUNCIL
The youth council is responsible for 6th through 12th grades. They direct Pine Shores Youth (PSY) which encourages the youth to experience, understand and respond to the presence of God in their lives.
