From our Youth Director, Kiley Pritchard

Yesterday should’ve been the day our high schoolers would return home from Montreat Youth Conference.

Every summer, our youth eagerly await to make the trek up through the mountains to Montreat, North Carolina. It’s such a special week; full of sacred moments, exciting adventures, and new friends.

I know I can speak on behalf of everyone in PSY (including our awesome mentor/driver Mart) that not being able to attend Montreat this summer just hit us differently. If you had told me 6 months ago one of the biggest youth conferences would be cancelled due to a worldwide pandemic, I would’ve called you crazy.

Everyones lives have almost been put on a hold the last few months. Wedding dates changed, travel plans cancelled, concerts rescheduled. It’s just something we’ve all learned to accept, and carry on from. It’s hard to predict what will come next, but I know one (big) thing that has not changed, been cancelled or rescheduled- and that’s Jesus’ constant presence. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever.” He remains the same through all of our todays.

Though Montreat has been cancelled, their amazing team have put together a 5 session program called “Montreat@Home.” It includes everything from daily scripture, small group conversations, games, and even energizer dances, a Montreat favorite. PSY will utilize Montreat@Home in the fall when we can meet together as a group. We are grateful for what Montreat has offered us, even if we can’t all be together there in person.

Please continue to lift up the youth in your prayers. We are so grateful for all your constant support!

Scripture Reading: Psalm 105:4-6
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually.
Remember the wonderful works he has done, his miracles,
and the judgments he has uttered,O offspring of his servant Abraham, children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

Reflection Questions:
What or who reminds you of Jesus’ constant presence in your life?
Who have you missed being with the most this summer?
Where have you seen gratitude exhibited today?

Prayer: Holy God, may will continue to seek your presence and guidance in our lives.  Fill us with gratitude and kindness, mercy
and love.  Amen.
