About 15 years ago, a research team that included Psychologist Martin Seligman asked participants to journal each night for one-week three things that went good for them that day and why.

Can you guess what the research showed?

The research reported that people who wrote down three good things they had experienced during the day before going to bed for a week exhibited more gratitude, significantly greater happiness and less depression. Moreover, the research surprisingly show that this effect persisted for half a year. We invite you to join us in this activity for the week.

Here’s a link to a video that Wally and Janet Colligan sent me, which fits well with our invitation. Take a look.

Scripture Reading:  1 Peter 1:21-23
Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God. Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart. You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.

Reflection Question:
Will you journal each night for one-week three things that went well for you during the day and why?

Prayer: Holy God, help me keep my eyes on the things that matter. Keep me obedient to your mandate to see you more clearly, love more deeply and follow you each day. Amen
