There are three days of the year, February 17th, August 1st and August 31st which are imprinted in my mirror neurons. For me, these are special days of remembrance. (Perhaps, when the renovations are finally completed, there’ll be a fourth day added to the list.) It’s not really important for you to know why these dates matter so much for me and also this is not to dismiss other dates having great significance – and just so you know maybe I’m particularly talking about my wedding anniversary. It’s just these three tug at me to remember, be present in spirit and mindful in thought throughout the day. It’s hard to explain how mysterious the invitation is for me on these days but there is a peaceful settledness.  (Covid Curmudgeon) Sir Van Morrison, in Avalon Sunset, wrote a verse that reads: “These are the days now that we must savor… And we must enjoy as we can… These are the days that will last forever… You’ve got to hold them in your heart.” We want to invite you to pause and hold in your heart, the amazing people who have entered your life, those who have stayed alongside you for a while now or those who have venture forth or those who you have bumped into for whatever reason.  You really don’t go anywhere by accident. Also, remember those spectacular occasions when you experience what you never thought you would or ever expected too, those delightful surprises and marvelous moments.  Take the pause – today is a special day. It’s a gift for you.

Scripture Reading Ephesians 2:10
“For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.”

Reflection Questions:
What are important dates for you and why?
Who have (are) you remembered (remembering)?
What good works are you created for?

Prayer: Holy God, I pause this day to remember the blessing of those many people who have cared for me, loved me and supported me, helping me become who I am.  Let gratitude overflow in me. Amen
