God is love… that is the distillate of my faith. The several different expressions of love can be confusing. I prefer to avoid the overlay of nuanced love definitions that distract from the central theme of my faith and marginalize the God is love message.
The Pine Shores’ core values embrace love. The essence of grace is courteous goodwill. The two dozen mission programs, the striving to increase Christ-like living, and acceptance of others are all manifestations of love.
Several factors contribute to achieving satisfaction and reducing the sense of unworthiness in senior years. Diet, exercise, and sense of purpose foster wellbeing and reduce feelings of unworthiness. All are matters of discipline and self-control available to all. Any of the different Missions, the several community organizations affiliated and the community immediately around Pine Shores offer opportunities to gain sense of purpose.
In the Stewardship season, thoughts often turn to monetary resources. While the monetary aspect is essential to the church, there is a greater yield from the sense of purpose to be gained from the loving and helping of others.
Scripture Reading: 1 John 4: 7 – 8
“Dear friends let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and God knows. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
What gives you the greatest sense of purpose?
Do you find it at Pine Shores?
Prayer: Holy God, keep me attuned to the needs around me and let me live out my mission to be a person of Good News. Amen.
