As I look ahead to the blank calendar that is 2021, and yes friends, it does appear to be quite empty as many of our events, gatherings and celebrations continue to be postponed or cancelled, I hold in my heart the knowledge that my faith will carry me to and through whatever the future will bring us. I choose not to dwell too heavily on the things I have missed but rather try to remember that “this too shall pass.” I know that my faith allows me the freedom to rest assured that things WILL get better and that my calendar can soon be filled again.

I recently read a paraphrased quote that stated “We cannot change the wind, but we can adjust the sails.” It occurred to me that that is exactly what I have been doing for the past 10 months and how I need to continue forward. When things get me down, I tell myself to have faith that there are brighter days ahead. To me, faith can simply be defined as a strong belief in God and that is what I have. God has always been present, and will continue to be. Having a positive attitude certainly helps when having to “adjust my sails.” As I continue to learn to adapt to the often changing circumstances in our world I know I don’t have all the answers but I do have faith that nothing will be impossible with God.

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

Reflection Questions:
How is your faith keeping you strong?
What have you done to “adjust your sails” in order to cope
with our changing world?
How can you help others to keep a positive attitude?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for filling us with faith. As we move through the days ahead, remind us to keep a positive attitude and to always be mindful of those who have not what we have. Amen.
