We are in day two of Montreat Youth Conference. We are so grateful to be up in the mountains together as a youth group – making connections with each other, connections with new friends, and connecting with God. The sun has finally come out here today! It’s been raining here on and off since we arrived Sunday evening. During the day, the youth break off into small groups and connecting groups. The connecting group is a new addition to the conference this year. It’s a time for outdoor games and recreation. In past years, it’s common for the kids to not like their small groups right away. It can be intimidating for them to go into groups with kids who they have never met before. Surprisingly, every single one of our youth really liked their groups yesterday which is amazing!
My favorite takeaway so far from the week was our message from last night’s sermon by Rev. Dr. Damon Williams. He said we serve a God who chooses interconnectedness, the spirit of God is within all of us. We can focus on all the differences we share as humans, but the one thing that ties us all together is that we are filled with the Holy Spirit. He said we are all here for a reason, we have been chosen by God. We are grateful to be chosen, and can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store for us.

Scripture Reading    1 Corinthians 12:12
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.

Reflection Questions:
How do you feel knowing that God has chosen you?
What do you think makes us connected to one another?
Is it easier to connect this year than last year?

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for our youth and their energy. We ask you to help us connect to each other and connect to you. Amen
