At the Council meeting last month we started an Appreciative Inquiry conversation.  Appreciative Inquiry is an approach to organizational analysis and learning uniquely intended to discovering, understanding and fostering innovation. Each Elder will get the chance to thoughtfully answer the following, “When was Pine Shores the biggest blessing in your life? What uniqueness would you like Pine Shores to carry forward over the next 5 years?”  and “If Jesus came and visited Pine Shores in 5 years, what would he be most pleased about?” One elder responded, the blessing of Pine Shores is joy – joy to her family, bringing friends and sharing wonderful life experiences. She feels Jesus would be pleased by the openness of our church – that we are inclusive and we welcome different entities to use the church. Another elder responded that Pine Shores has been a blessing by providing a home and family where he feels safe to follow Christ’s path. He is thankful we support the pursuit of justice and that we are a church seeking to do justice and empower others. The third elder said her biggest blessing would be the “marry and bury” phenomena she has experienced. Through living and growing at our church and through various life challenges and passing of family members she has felt the energy of love, the fellowship of the congregation and vital support. She believes Christ would be excited about the vibrancy and energy in the church as well as outside of the church. We’re guessing you’ve figured out what questions we’ll be asking you to ponder today.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 34:8
“O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in him.”

Prayer: Holy God, you created me in your likeness.  Be pleased with who I am and what I do, so someone else may know the joy of having you in their live.  Amen.
