by Kiley Pritchard – Youth Director

In just four weeks, Pine Shores Youth will be heading up to Montreat, North Carolina for their annual youth conference. We have ten students attending this summer, three of which have never experienced Montreat before. Last year, MYC (Montreat Youth Conference) was cancelled due to COVID-19. Thanks to science and time, we are able to gather again in the mountains for a special and sacred week.  Every year MYC has a different theme. This year’s theme is “Called to Connect.” As I’ve put some thought into the theme, I don’t think there could’ve been one more fitting. Not only for the reason that we’re able to all connect together in person, but also because that’s what Montreat does — connects one another. Montreat connects us as a youth group, connects us to new friends from different parts of the country, connects us to nature and the great outdoors, and connects us to our Holy God.  Connection is a vital contribution to living a happy life. We have spent the last year, and then some, in a season of disconnect through our challenges and unfamiliar circumstances. God calls us to be connected in all aspects of our lives, and the time is now.  I could not be more excited to see what the leadership at Montreat have put together for the youth this summer.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 18:20
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

Reflection Questions
What connections in your life are most important to you?
Who/what have you been disconnected to lately?
How are you staying connected to God?

Holy God, be with us today and remind us that we are called to connect through you. Amen.
