At Bible Study on Tuesday Rev. Dr. Paul Reiter shared this reading by Jan Richardson.

Blessing in the Chaos
To all that is chaotic in you, let there come silence.Let there be a calming of the clamoring, a stilling of the voices that
have laid their claim on you, that have made their home in you, that go with you
even to the holy places but will not let you rest, will not let you hear your life
with wholeness or feel the grace that fashioned you.
Let what distracts you cease.

Let what divides you cease.

Let there come an end to what diminishes and demeans,
and let depart all that keeps you in its cage.

Let there be an opening into the quiet that lies beneath the chaos, where you find
the peace you did not think possible and see what shimmers within the storm.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 37:4-7
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.
He will make your vindication shine like the light, and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices.”

Reflection Questions:
What is distracting to you?
How are you calming the clamoring noise that fills your life?
What do you desire?

Prayer: Holy God, when I diminish myself or another, open me to your peace. When I fret over the ways of those I misunderstand, disagree with or reject let your grace refashion me to your goodness.  Remind me that you take delight in me. Amen.
