When one has an experience with God – things change …you become a bit different. I’m not suggesting you get limp (like Jacob) or you’ll have a scar, but I am willing to say that one becomes changed when the mysterious wrestles with you – something permanent happens.  I’ll go as far to say that God often messes with us at our weak places.  God wrestles with us when we judge others. God wrestles with us when greed motivates.  God wrestles with us when our commitment to serve is lacking.  God wrestles with us when we are fearful and doubt God’s promises. Wherever your faith link is weak, that’s where God challenges you.  I know it’s much easier to believe in a happy God, who makes no demands of me.  A God that allows me to think and do whatever I want throughout the week.  I may want to avoid questions that frighten me while I listen to voices that affirm who I am and what I do.  But there is a quote that goes something like “it’s not my belief that’s the concern, it’s my under-belief.” God invites a faithful life and I am gratefully if that includes happiness.  A faithful life is the blessing. To live by faith means I will wrestle with the mysterious along the way.  I’m pretty sure sometime this week you’ll wrestle with the mysterious…you’ll have a struggle with God.  And when it’s over you’ll be a bit different.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:16
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

Reflection Questions:
When have you bumped into the mysterious?
How is faithful living making your life better?
Who needs to see you shining light?

Prayer: Holy God, let me be more open to new ways of sharing and encourage me to keep shining the light of the One who dwells in me. Let Christ rule in my life.  Amen.
