On Sunday we held the first of three SURE (Sarasota United for Responsibility and Equity) Listening Sessions after church.  Around 20 folks participated in our discussion which was centered on the question: What concerns do you have for the Sarasota Community?  Here are some of the concerns that were raised: affordable housing, hunger information, gun violence, healthcare, living wage, mental health issues, childcare, homelessness, environmental issues, and all elementary schools have counselors. Tonight Paul Reiter will be hosting a SURE Listening Session via zoom at 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, October 28th, at 7:00 p.m. Ken Visser will be hosting the last SURE Listening Session. (Contact Karen at karen@pineshorespres.org to get the login information.) We would love to hear what concerns you might have for the Sarasota community.

Scripture Reading: Micah 6:8   (The Message)
“But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don’t take yourself too seriously— take God seriously.”

Reflection Questions:
How can we make our community a better place for all people?
What does it mean to “do what is fair and just to your neighbor”?
What/who made you smile today?

Prayer: Holy God, open my eyes, ears and heart to see those around more clearly. May my words and actions be pleasing to you, O Lord. Amen
