Music Ministry Highlights for 2021

After an extended hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, the Chancel Choir returned to rehearsals and enriching worship with their music for a few weeks in July and then again was able to restart in October. When in rehearsal and when singing in the sanctuary all singers are wearing “Singing Masks” that the church provided.

The Bells of Joy intergenerational handbell choir and the Clara Kaiser Carillon handbell choir resumed their rehearsals this fall and enriched worship in November and also during advent.

JOY Company children third through 5th grade stated learning handchimes this fall.

Our Director of Music, Rick Holdsworth, traveled to Phoenix, Arizona in July for the Handbells Musicians of America National Seminar. While at the seminar he was notified that his orchestration for “The First Noel” was going to be published in the spring of 2022. Rick also rang at the Distinctly Bronze West event in Portland, Oregon in October.

In October our Concert Series restarted with a concert by our own Wayne Fisher with his Wayne’s niece Kara Fisher and Lennie Foy. This was followed in November by The New Orleans Nighthawks Jazz Band. The concert season continues in January and March of 2022. All of our concerts are livestreamed.

Sounds of the Soul first Friday music offerings also resumed in October and are also being livestreamed thanks to our new wireless camera.
